Concord Pet started in 1978 out of a trailer at Larry's Mobile. Originally the Mutschler Family was looking for a way to feed the family horses. In 1981 Larry Mutschler opened his first retail location on Concord Pike in Wilmington, Delaware. There was only one employee in a 1,000sq ft. building. This building still exists today as storage for the Concord Pike location. Originally Larry had two partners - his brother and a good friend. The company grew to 9 locations by 1998. Today Larry solely owns the company and has grown to 18 locations from West Chester to Rehoboth. He was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware just like Concord Pet. For over 25 years the company has been locally owned and operated and we at Concord Pet know what that means to our customers. At Concord Pet we feel the need to help our customers as if they are family. We strive to be the best in the area, from carrying bags to hiring a knowledgeable staff. Please feel free to stop in at Concord Pet, where you and your pet will be part of our family!

Jessie & Afra Thanks Dr. Amy Kidd V.M.D. and Staff of Pocopson Veterinary Station for their continued support.

Dr. Amy L. Kidd V.M.D.
Dr. Amy Kidd has been in small animal private practice since her graduation from the University of  Pennsylvania in 1998.  She is a native of the greater Philadelphia area, growing up in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, and attending Muhlenberg College in Allentown prior to veterinary school. While a student at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Kidd’s interest in critical and emergent care was fostered and is still with her today. A strong proponent of cutting-edge medicine, Dr. Kidd prides herself in her ability to deliver high quality preventive medicine and perform both routine and emergency surgeries.  Now, she is excited to be able to provide these services for the patients and their owners at Pocopson Veterinary Station. Practicing in this immediate area for greater than eleven years has enabled Dr. Kidd to form strong relationships with many of the specialists and referral centers in this region. If intensive or emergency care is needed, these relationships will allow a rapid and smooth referral process.  She has also dedicated countless hours to the Chester County SPCA to help sick, injured, and abandoned animals in the area. Since 2000 Dr. Kidd has lived in Unionville with her husband, Greg Suplick, and their three dogs, Dharma, Gibson, and Nick.  She also has two young cats, Popeye and Clarence, and a 22 year old kitty named Alfalfa.  Dr. Kidd is the proud mother to three adorable children, Emilea, Noah and Nathaniel.

Leo Thanks

Company History – An American Success Story

How Krapf Became One of the Most Trusted Names in Transportation

It is a story as American as apple pie and Main Street parades.

The year was 1942. A local school district, needing someone to transport students to its high school, turned to George Krapf, Jr., owner of the local gas station and a highly regarded mechanic, but, more importantly, one of the community’s most respected leaders.

George accepted the offer and set about stripping two dump trucks down to their frames and driver’s seats. He and a companion drove the “vehicles” to Mitchell, IN, where bus bodies were applied to the frames, and then drove them back to Pennsylvania.

For all intents and purposes, George Krapf, Jr. & Sons, Inc. was born.

That first school district – now known as Downingtown Area School District – remains a customer of Krapf School Bus to this day. As a matter of fact, so does the second district George soon contracted with – Twin Valley.

Together with his wife and co-founder Eleanor “Grammie” Krapf, who would become the second woman in Pennsylvania to drive a school bus, the Krapfs took the wheel of what has become a remarkable success story.

More than 70 years later, a third generation of Krapf family members is helping to drive an enterprise that operates more than 1,300 school buses in three states, and safely transports more than 95,000 students – including thousands of special needs children – each day during the school year. That equates to more than 20 million miles annually!

And just as important to the Krapf family is the fact that the company also boasts second and third generation employees in what is truly a family-friendly environment.

Joan M. Yarnall, B.S., B.S., M.S., V.M.D., Ph.D.

After completing a double undergraduate major (B.S. in Zoology and B.S. in Secondary Education) in 1974, and a Masters degree (M.S. in Physiology) in 1975, at the Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA, Dr. Yarnall moved on to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, to complete a Ph.D. in Physiology in 1980. After a few years of post-doctoral research at the University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston, Texas , she decided to pursue her childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian. She began her veterinary education at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine, Boston, Massachusetts, and reestablished residency in Pennsylvania to complete her Veterinary Medical Doctor degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1987. After honing her skills as an associate veterinarian in another area practice for 6 years , she established the Animal Clinic at Thorndale in 1993. She designed our current facility at 431 Bondsville Road, Downingtown, relocating the practice there in 2004. Despite being a “gradual student” studying at various universities around the country, she now lives three miles away from where she was born and raised, and loves being a small animal veterinarian and practice owner. In addition to spending time with her pride and joy, daughter, Amy, and her pets, she enjoys gardening, wildlife, and many outdoor activities.
